It is important to know the material of your inflatable boat before repairing it. Adhesives and repair equipment are usually designed to repair homogeneous materials.
Not knowing the material to be selected can lead to the fact that the place to be applied cannot be properly repaired. Three types of materials are used to create inflatable boats:
PVC, Polyurethane and Hypalon.
Inflatable Boat Timber Repair
Once you have determined what material your inflatable boat is lined with, you can begin to repair the timber. The most common way to repair timber is to look for a leak, if there is any. To find a leak, the boat is inflated until the proper pressure is reached. Then the fabric, bottom, spine and collars are checked for leaks.
To check for a leaky valve stem, remove the cap and inspect the tire diaphragms for any signs of air leakage and make sure there are no problems.
Inflatable Boat Air Leak Test
White water is prepared and sprayed on the boat from a sprayer. The presence of small bubbles indicates an air leak in the boat. Air leaks are detected by applying it to the entire boat. The air from the inflatable boat is then drawn off, and areas where leaks occur are marked with an erasable pen. The right patches and adhesives are used for repairs.
Choosing the right products to use when repairing your boat and correctly identifying the fault is important for the long-term use of your boat and preventing high costs that may arise in the future.
